The Complicated World of Health Insurance Made Simple

I was under my parent's health insurance policy until I was 25, and I visited the same doctors I had been to for my entire life. After I graduated from college and began working as an independent contractor, I realized that I needed to choose my own individual health insurance plan. I was overwhelmed with all of my options and had a tough time choosing the right policy for me. Thankfully, my parents helped me choose a plan that not only offered great coverage, but also allowed me to still visit my favorite doctors that had cared for me for most of my life. I know others out there are likely having a tough time choosing the right health insurance policies for them, and I am eager to share what I learned while choosing my policy with others on my new blog!

Three Steps To Getting Mental Healthcare In A Foreign Nation

Sometimes illnesses affect more than your organs and appendages. If you suffer from a mental illness, it does not mean that you have to slow down your whole life. Keeping yourself mentally healthy will be similar to a bodily illness and call for regular checkups with your counselor and sticking to any prescribed medication regimen. When traveling is your hobby, there are some preparations that you should make for a trip. There are three extra preparations that you should make for mental wellness if you are traveling to a foreign nation.

1. Get long-term travel health insurance

The insurance that you utilize while you are within the United States may not be good enough to cover you in a foreign land. If you are a constant traveler, you should invest in long-term health insurance. The healthcare insurance you take for traveling should cover medical emergencies, regular checkups, and medications if you are in need. This will keep you from going broke or going without the medication that you need. Be sure to get a list of countries that your long term travel health insurance from a company like International Health Insurance Solutions works with and any in-network provider information that will be necessary.

2. Find English speaking doctors

When in a foreign nation it is common to find that most doctors and hospitals speak another language. Link up with the embassy or with other American settlers in the area to find mental health care doctors who can treat you. The embassy will be able to give you the names and numbers of doctors who they recommend for health care. Get into contact with the doctor's office prior to going to the country, so that they will have some idea of who you are and the treatment that you need before you come in. If you are on medication, be sure to let them know about the scripts that you may need to be written while in the country.

3. Get an online therapy application

If you would prefer to speak to one therapist ongoing, downloading an application to your phone or computer that will give you an online therapist is a good idea. In the event that something major shifts in your mental health, your online therapist will be able to contact the doctor's office in your country of travel. From there, they can collaborate to offer you the best treatment possible. One of the best perks of having a therapist through phone application is that you will be able to contact them from any country with internet access.
